SHOKZ OpenRun MINI Wireless Bluetooth Headphones

My wife and I purchased two Open Run minis so that we could run or walk, listen to podcasts or music, and still safely hear the world around us. They hit this goal for six! I love how I can hear others around me or cars coming up whilst I’m still listening to what I want to. Also, if someone does start up a conversation with me I can join in instantly whilst reaching up to the button to put the sound on pause. Job done ✅
So do they sound as good as my Bose noise cancelling earbuds. No, of course not. The tech is very different. But do they sound good enough for the purpose – absolutely I think they do. It’s a bit like asking will an Audi sports car work well off road – No it won’t. They do tend to sound a bit mid range heavy – which happens to be great for voice, but not so good for thumping bass. If you want to listen to loud bass heavy music and thumping bangers you won’t like these headphones and they do have a bit of a tickle on your skin if you put too much volume into them. That said, you may be like me where there are times I want full range perfect sounding audio and that’s when I put on my other earbuds or fire up the speakers – I also don’t want to talk or hear other people at those times!
Additional bonuses. They are so comfortable to wear and your ears don’t get sore. They are quite subtle to notice so other people WILL talk to you whilst your wearing them because they don’t realise your listening to something else – positive or negative bonus here?? That’s your call 🙂 A MAJOR bonus of the new gen Openruns is that you can connect to 2 Bluetooth networks simultaneously. Mobile phone and your work or home computer or TV at the same time. That’s cool. My wife and I can now run or walk and listen to the same podcast at the same time streamed from one device – and have a conversation all at the same time. V cool.
My final point. Buy the minis. I don’t know what size head you would need to have for the ‘normal’ size to be best on you, but I do suspect you would need to have arrived from a different planet for them to be the best size. After looking at our friends version of the standard size we chose the minis and they fit way better. My only problem now is how to tell mine apart from my wife’s as they are both grey…I figure I can work out a solution to that one! Enjoy, Stephen.
